Striped Twin-humpback Spider
This species is easily recognised by the elongated carapace and the distinct brownish striped pattern on the dorsum. The female abdomen is truncated (straight) posteriorly when well fed, but most specimens show two lateral tubercles, each with several tiny nipple- and finger-like structures at and around its apex.
Length | ♀ 5–6 mm; ♂ 3–4 mm. |
Habitat | Foliage and branches in secondary forest. |
Biology | An individual has been seen suspended in mid-air on a strand of silk while feeding on an ant. However, it remains to be seen if this species builds a simplified web structure, similar to those made by Episinus, designed to intercept insects crawling on the substrate. |
